Data Quality & Methodology

Collection

Automated capture from published auction results. Every record is a verified published result — no estimated or scraped prices.

Classification

AI-assisted categorization with human review. Items are classified by category, brand, item type, and material using Gemini vision models and rule-based enrichment.

Staging & DQ Gate

Every record passes through a staging environment with automated data quality checks before entering production tables.

Normalization

All prices converted to USD using nearest-date FX rates from a 27-currency reference table (1999–present). Original currency is always preserved.

Company Mapping

Every brand is linked to its parent company through a curated reference table of 5,300+ entries, enabling cross-referencing with equity data.

Deduplication

Lot-URL-based deduplication ensures no double-counting from overlapping sources or re-listed items.
