Rebecca Tooby-Desmond, Specialist, Head of Sale, Editions, and Auctioneer, said, “ The combined total of £2.9million achieved across this week’s auctions are testament to the strength of the market for editions. Following our first dedicated live Damien Hirst auction, our Evening & Day Editions sale was 88% sold by lot and 93% by value and saw fifteen world auction records realised, reflecting strong demand for modern and contemporary editions from Picasso to Banksy. Andy Warhol saw particularly sustained interest, with African Elephant and Orangutan from his Endangered Species series each tripling their presale estimates and both setting new auction records. These results speak to the expertise of our global team and the enthusiasm of collectors who took part in the sale from across 42 countries worldwide. We look forward to building on this momentum as we approach our Editions & Works on Paper auction in New York on 24 June.”
