Following our first dedicated live Damien Hirst auction, our Evening & Day Editions sale was 88% sold by lot and 93% by value and saw fifteen world auction records realised, reflecting strong demand for modern and contemporary editions from Picasso to Banksy. Andy Warhol saw particularly sustained interest, with African Elephant and Orangutan from his Endangered Species series each tripling their presale estimates and both setting new auction records.

These results speak to the expertise of our global team and the enthusiasm of collectors who took part in the sale from across 42 countries worldwide.

We look forward to building on this momentum as we approach our Editions & Works on Paper auction in New York on 24 June.” Top Ten Lots Lot Description Estimate Price Achieved 129 Andy Warhol, African Elephant, from Endangered Species (F. & S. 293), 1983 WORLD AUCTION RECORD FOR THE EDITION £60,000 - 80,000 £215,900 $292,976/€256,554 130 Andy Warhol, Orangutan , from Endangered Species (F. & S. 299), 1983 WORLD AUCTION RECORD FOR THE EDITION £40,000 - 60,000 £184,150 $249,892/€218,825 151 Banksy, Flower Thrower Triptych (Grey), 2019 £100,000 - 150,000 £127,000 $172,339/€150,914 105 Pablo Picasso, Minotaure aveugle guidé par Marie-Thérèse au pigeon dans une nuit étoilée (Blind Minotaur Guided Through a Starry Night by Marie-Thérèse with a Dove) , plate 97 from La Suite Vollard (Bl. 225, Ba. 437), 1934 £60,000 - 80,000 £127,000 $172,339/€150,914 149 Banksy, Kate Moss: Original Colourway , 2005 £70,000 - 90,000 £107,950 $146,488/€128,277 132 Andy Warhol, Flash - November 22, 1963 (F. & S. 32-42), 1968 £50,000 - 70,000 £95,250 $129,254/€113,186 150 Banksy, Girl with Balloon, 2004 £60,000 - 80,000 £82,550 $112,020/€98,094 131 Andy Warhol, Skulls (F. & S. 157-160), 1976 £60,000 - 80,000 £69,850 $94,786/€83,003 133 Andy Warhol, Queen Margrethe II of Denmark , from Reigning Queens (Royal Edition) (F. & S. 342A), 1985 £40,000 - 60,000 £50,800 $68,936/€60,366 127 Andy Warhol, Flowers (F. & S. 69), 1970 £30,000 - 50,000 £44,450 $60,319/€52,820 New Auction Records Lot Description Estimate Price Achieved 106 After Pablo Picasso, Femme à la chaise sur fond jaune (Woman in a Chair on Yellow Background), 1980 £7,000 - 9,000 £40,640 $55,148/€48,293 *previous record price: 6,250 GBP set in 2007 107 After Pablo Picasso, Femme et enfant enlacés (Woman and Child Embracing), 1980 £7,000 - 9,000 £21,590 $29,298/€25,655 *previous record price: 9,375 GBP set in 2009 129 Andy Warhol, African Elephant, from Endangered Species (F. & S. 293), 1983 £60,000 - 80,000 £215,900 $292,976/€256,554 *previous record price: 189,000 USD set in 2021 130 Andy Warhol, Orangutan , from Endangered Species (F. & S. 299), 1983 £40,000 - 60,000 £184,150 $249,892/€218,825 *previous record price: 23,000,000 JPY set in 2022 137 Yayoi Kusama, Fruits (K. 234), 1997 £8,000 - 12,000 £19,050 $25,851/€22,637 *previous record price: 200,000 HKD set in 2018 147 Julian Opie, Day and Night, 2021 £7,000 - 9,000 £12,065 $16,372/€14,337 *previous record price: 10,160 GBP set in 2024 148 Julian Opie, Summer Rain 1 , from Summer Rain , 2020 £6,000 - 8,000 £16,510 $22,404/€19,619 *previous record price: 17,640 USD set in 2021 167 After Pablo Picasso, Colombe de la Paix (Dove of Peace) (see Cz. 179), 1961 £2,000 - 3,000 £13,970 $18,957/€16,601 *previous record price: 13,000 GBP set in 2025 170 After Pablo Picasso, Nature morte au citron et pichet rouge (Still Life with Lemon and Red Pitcher), circa 1960 £6,000 - 8,000 £15,240 $20,681/€18,110 *previous record price: 20,315 USD set in 2004 176 Pablo Picasso, Femme blonde à la fleur (Blonde Woman with Flower), plate 249 from Série 347 (Bl. 1729, Ba. 1746), 1968 £2,000 - 3,000 £8,890 $12,064/€10,564 *previous record price: 7,560 GBP set in 2022 178 Pablo Picasso, Maison close, Degas avec son album, Célestine, trois filles, et un pouf Marocain (Brothel, Degas with his Album, Célestine, Three Ladies, and a Moroccan Pouf), plate 87 from Série 156 (Bl. 1942, Ba. 1951) £1,500 - 2,000 £6,350 $8,617/€7,546 *previous record price: 5,368 USD set in 2011 260 Tony Cragg, Bust , 2017 £4,000 - 6,000 £15,240 $20,681/€18,110 *previous record price: 11,970 GBP set in 2021 *Lots 110, 277, and 289 were sold after the lots closed, whilst the sale was ongoing, and are therefore included in the total sale result.
