LONDON, 24 AUGUST 2026, Phillips is pleased to present highlights from the David Hockney, Modernism and Editions Evening and Online auctions in London this Autumn. On 19 September, Phillips will present its fifth annual auction dedicated exclusively to David Hockney. The auction will bring together a selection of important works spanning Hockney’s remarkable career, offering collectors an opportunity to engage with the vision of one of Britain’s most influential and enduring artistic voices. On 17 September, Phillips will debut its first standalone Modernism auction, bringing together editions by masters including Pablo Picasso, Joan Miró and Marc Chagall. The Editions Evening Sale follows, presenting works spanning the 20th and 21st centuries by key figures including Andy Warhol, Banksy, Jonas Wood, Gerhard Richter and Robert Indiana. Phillips’ fifth annual David Hockney auction celebrates the extraordinary career of one of Britain’s most influential and innovative artists. Leading the sale is Autour de la maison, été (Around the House, Summer), a monumental work depicting Hockney’s home and garden in Normandy at the height of summer. Printed on a single sheet of paper, it is among the largest works ever created by the artist and the largest editioned print of his career. Bringing together works from across seven decades of the artist’s printmaking practice, further highlights include Hockney’s iconic Lithographic Water Made of Lines, Crayon, and Two Blue Washes, a range of early etchings as well as seminal works from the Moving Focus series and i Pad drawings, such as Montcalm Interior, that came to define his later practice. Together, these works offer a compelling portrait of the artist’s unique legacy, continued experimentation with edition-making, and enduring ability to embrace new technologies and forms. MODERNISM | 17 SEPTEMBER, 3PM Phillips’ Modernism Sale responds to the growing demand for Modern editions, bringing together sought-after images and rarer examples from a pivotal period in the history of edition-making and the development of the modern print. Leading the sale is Pablo Picasso’s Le déjeuner sur l’herbe, d’après Manet I (Lunch on the Grass, After Manet I), accompanied by the artist’s linocuts Faunes et chèvre (Fauns and Goat) and Portrait de Jacqueline au chapeau de paille multicolore (Portrait of Jacqueline in a Multicoloured Straw Hat). The Editions Evening Sale brings together an ambitious selection of works by some of the most influential and recognisable artists of the 20th and 21st centuries. From Pop icons to leading contemporary figures, the sale offers both familiar icons and fresh discoveries, reflecting the breadth and continued vitality of the editions market. Leading the sale is Andy Warhol’s Mickey Mouse, one of ten iconic figures from his 1981 Myths series, transforming one of America’s most recognisable cultural characters into a meditation on celebrity, nostalgia and the construction of popular identity. Further Warhol works in the sale include Queen Elizabeth II of the United Kingdom from the 1985 Reigning Queens series, Sitting Bull from 1986 and a unique trial proof of Alexander the Great. Also in the lineup is Roy Lichtenstein monumental Reflections on Crash, from the 1990 Reflections Series, alongside additional highlights including Banksy’s Girl with Balloon, and works by Jonas Wood, Gerhard Richter, Robert Indiana and Damien Hirst.
