Paris - Bonhams Cornette de Saint Cyr presented Chanel: A Private Collection on 19 February 2026, a sale dedicated exclusively to the world of Chanel. The white glove sale featured a wardrobe curated between 1995 and 2023, celebrating the maison's rich heritage and enduring style. The 367 lots, gathered over more than twenty years, spanned every season and showcased designs by creative directors Karl Lagerfeld and Virginie Viard.
The 367-lot sale, which lasted 8 hours, made a total of €609,574 with 100% sold by lot and 100% sold by value.
The star of the sale was a Chanel, Ready-to-Wear collection, Cruise 2005 jacket by artistic director Karl Lagerfeld. The long black wool jacket with gold CC patch, identical to the one worn by actress Anne Hathaway in the role of Andrea Sachs in the film The Devil Wears Prada, achieved €6,400, eight times its pre-sale estimate of € €800-1,000.
A Chanel Ready-to-Wear long black tweed coat, adorned with a gold CC patch from the Cruise 2005 collection, created under the artistic direction of Karl Lagerfeld, reminiscent of the style worn by Anne Hathaway in her role as Andrea Sachs in The Devil Wears Prada, achieved €3,840, double its pre-sale estimate of €1,500-2,000.
Hubert Felbacq, Director of the Fashion and Accessories department at Bonhams Cornette de Saint Cyr in Paris, commented: "Chanel: A Private Collection represented the ultimate Parisian wardrobe, offering an intimate glimpse into one woman's meticulously organized dressing room. Spanning nearly three decades, from 1995 to 2023, the collection brought together designs created under the creative direction of Karl Lagerfeld and Virginie Viard for Chanel. A comprehensive single-owner collection of this calibre is a rarity at auction. It was therefore no surprise that the exhibition attracted extraordinary interest: more than 1,000 visitors came to Avenue Hoche over three days to attend the dedicated preview ahead of the sale. The sale itself proved equally compelling, with a packed saleroom of bidders competing for these exceptional pieces, delivering a white glove sale with 100% of lots sold. We are honored to have helped this remarkable wardrobe begin its next chapter, with the hope that each piece will be worn, cherished, and reinterpreted by a new generation of Chanel aficionados."
Another notable lot was a Chanel, Ready-to-Wear, Autumn Winter 2014 by artistic director Karl Lagerfeld. The zipped coat in black tweed with white heather and silver lurex achieved €5,376, four times its pre-sale estimate of €1,200-1,500.
