
MICA: The Collection of Mica Ertegun, Part III totalled $2,686,698 at Christie’s New York on Friday, December 13, against a low estimate of $671,100. The sale offered Design, Decorative Arts, and Jewels from the collection of Mica Ertegun.
The sale was 100 percent sold by lot and realised 318 percent of the low estimate at the hammer. Together with the three prior live sales, the Mica Ertegun collection has now achieved a running total of $194,221,588, with two online auctions open for bidding through December 17 and 18.
The top lot was a 10-panel Korean screen, which sold for $642,600, more than 42 times its low estimate, following a ten-minute bidding battle. A pair of large French brass palm trees realised $252,000, more than six times their low estimate, and a George IV mahogany serving table and collected bar service realised $69,300, more than eleven times its low estimate.
The jewellery on offer built on the 16 objects sold in the Magnificent Jewels sale on Tuesday. Highlights included an antique diamond pendant at $60,480, an antique pair of diamond and enamel crescent brooches at $50,400, and a ruby, diamond and enamel orchid brooch at $32,760.
Two online sales remained open the following week: the New York online sale through December 17 and the Paris online sale through December 18.
