RM Sotheby’s has announced early consignments for its Milan sale on 22 May, an all-new auction of around 50 cars spanning nearly every era of motoring. The sale will be held at the Fonderia Macchi Carlo, a former industrial building in Milan that has hosted fashion presentations for brands including Gucci and Valentino.

The event marks the first RM Sotheby’s live auction in Italy since the house ended its long partnership with the Concorso d’ Eleganza Villa d’ Este. The company has since formed new partnerships with the Anantara Concorso in Rome and the Fuori Concorso at Lake Como.

A principal draw is the Stuttgart Legends Collection, a group of landmark Porsches alongside a 1954 Mercedes-Benz 300 SL Gullwing. The early-production Gullwing was delivered new to the United States through the Mercedes-Benz importer for New York, retains its matching-numbers body, chassis, and engine, and is presented in black over black (estimate €1,150,000 to €1,500,000).

Among the Porsches is a 1974 Porsche 911 Carrera RS 3.0, one of only 55 examples of the air-cooled competition car, supplied new to Düsseldorf and offered with a report from marque authority Andy Prill (estimate €1,100,000 to €1,500,000). A 1997 Porsche 911 GT2 R, one of a reported 10 of the 993-generation GT2 R race cars built, is offered as a project eligible for historic GT and endurance series once completed (estimate €675,000 to €725,000).

The collection also includes a 1998 Porsche 911 Carrera RSR, one of only 45 type-993 examples produced and delivered new to the Zakspeed race team in March 1998 (estimate €450,000 to €550,000); a 2002 Porsche 911 GT3 RS that finished second in class at the 24 Hours of Le Mans and third overall at the 24 Hours of Spa in 2002 (estimate €300,000 to €500,000); and a 2004 Porsche 911 GT3 Cup in UPS livery that raced in the Porsche Carrera Cup Germany in 2005 (estimate €130,000 to €180,000).
