

Hong Kong, 1 April 2026 - Christie's is pleased to present the 2026 Spring Hong Kong Asian Art Week, featuring two curated auctions: Fine Chinese Classical Paintings and Calligraphy on 28 April, and Fine Chinese Modern and Contemporary Ink Paintings on 29 April. The live auctions take place in Hong Kong on 28 to 29 April, with previews running 23 to 28 April.
This season, the Fine Chinese Classical Paintings and Calligraphy auction presents a distinguished selection of rare and important works. Led by Twin Eagles by Bada Shanren from an Important Asian Private Collection, the sale also features several masterpieces, including Poem in Running Script by the Ming scholar Wang Shouren, Gathering of Reclusive Sages and Poetry Drafts by Chen Hongshou formerly from the C. C. Wang Family Collection, Reading in the Autumn Mountains by Tang Yin, as well as Magnificent View of the Yangzi River by Shen Zhou from an Important Japanese Private Collection.
On the following day, the Fine Chinese Modern and Contemporary Ink Paintings auction will present an outstanding selection of masterpieces, led by Listening to Waterfall in Pine Forest, painted during Fu Baoshi's artistic peak, the "Jingangpo" period, in Chongqing. The sale also brings together notable highlights including Zhang Daqian's landscape paintings in his signature styles, such as Landscape after Juran and Verdant Mountains in Splashed Color. Adding a festive touch in celebration of the Year of the Horse, numerous horse paintings by Xu Beihong, including Galloping Horse, will also be on offer.
Presenting around 270 remarkable and timeless masterpieces assembled by celebrated connoisseurs, these two sales illuminate both the enduring value of Chinese paintings and calligraphy and the rich legacy of collecting through Christie's renowned global platform.
