NEW YORK - Christie’s reaffirms its leadership in the global jewelry market with today’s historic Magnificent Jewels auction. A packed salesroom of collectors fueled fierce bidding in person, on the phone, and online for the sale's legendary stones and storied treasures, which offered celebrated provenance, unparalleled quality and rarity, and timeless glamour.

The sale was 100 percent sold by lot and achieved a total of $87.7 million. At the heart of the sale were two extraordinary highlights: The Marie-Thérèse Pink, a rare 10.38-carat kite-shaped fancy purple-pink diamond, mounted by JAR and wrapped in the mystery and romance of the French Royal family, achieved $14 million and set a new world auction record for a JAR jewel. The Blue Belle, a mesmerizing 392.52 carat Ceylon sapphire of royal grandeur and luminous intensity sold for $11.3 million. Colored gemstones drew significant attention and interest, setting the stage for a season of record-setting results and global participation.

Rahul Kadakia, Christie’s International Head of Jewelry comments: “This season’s results highlight the tremendous demand for jewels of exceptional rarity, provenance, and craftsmanship. In addition to the regal splendor of the Marie-Thérèse Pink diamond and the Blue Belle sapphire, private collections and superb jewels were met with enthusiastic and competitive bidding driven by our team's passionate expertise. These successes underscore Christie’s global reach, market leadership and enduring commitment to delivering the best possible outcome for our clients.”

The sale also featured several important private collections, each distinguished by connoisseurship and excellence: Color and Ingenuity: The Collection of Lucille Coleman presented one of the most significant groups of ‘Mystery-Set’ jewels ever to appear at auction. The top lot of the collection was a Van Cleef & Arpels Ruby and Diamond 'Mystery-set' Brooch selling for $1,562,500 almost three times over its high estimate of $600,000, setting anew world record price for a ‘Mystery Set’ jewel sold at auction. The group in total achieved $7.4 million. Proceeds will benefit the late collector’s chosen philanthropic institutions, continuing her legacy of generosity.

The Jewelry Collection of Anne H. Bass totaled $8.8 million, led by a pair of superb Van Cleef & Arpels diamond pendant earrings, which sold for $1,986,000 million in addition to the remarkable results achieved for her sensational collection of JAR, David Webb and Bulgari. The JAR Sapphire, Emerald and Diamond Necklace sold for $1,502,000 almost eight times over its low estimate.

Magnificent Mughal Jewels: Property from a Royal Collection realized $14.8 million, with the Mughal Carved Emerald Necklace selling for $6,221,000, the Mughal Multi-Gem and Emerald Necklace achieving $5,555,500, and the Mughal Three Strand Spinel and Natural Pearl Necklace which sold for $3,014,500 achieving standout results.

Signed jewels performed exceptionally well, including: A Cartier Art Deco Multi-Gem and Diamond Bracelet which achieved $831,600, more than four times its low estimate; A Cartier Art Deco multi-gem and diamond shoulder brooch, which sold for $340,200 and a Harry Winston Diamond Pendant Necklace which sold for $2,409,500. Sales will conclude tomorrow with Jewels Online which will close for bidding at 10 AM.
