Paris, 31 March 2026 - From 31 March to 15 April, Christie's will exhibit La Pomme de New York, a monumental piece by Claude Lalanne, at the Bristol Paris. The work will be offered for sale on 15 April during the 20/21 Century Art Evening Sale and will be one of the highlights of Paris Marquee Week.
A distinguished guest at one of the capital's most iconic palaces, La Pomme de New York will, in turn, encounter the history of a place deeply rooted in Parisian cultural life.

At the Bristol Paris, La Pomme de New York, the iconic sculpture by Claude Lalanne, numbered 7/8 and dated 2008, will find a setting perfectly suited to its scale (5,000,000 € to 7,000,000 €). Standing nearly 2.5 meters tall, this model, the most monumental ever created by the artist, embodies the poetic and organic world that defines her work.
The apple has held a central place in her practice since the 1960s: from the early Pomme-Bouche to the Pomme-Montre, and ultimately to this New York-inspired variation, the motif has offered Claude Lalanne a particularly fertile ground for experimentation, balancing figuration, surrealism, and a playful sense of scale, from the most intimate to the most spectacular.
Reflecting the influence of an artist increasingly sought after on the market, it now stands as one of the star lots of the Evening Sale dedicated to Modern and Contemporary Art on 15 April.

A regular at major exhibition venues, La Pomme de New York has previously been presented on Park Avenue in New York in 2010, at the Trianon in the grounds of the Château de Versailles in 2021, and was recently photographed at the Château de Chenonceau, where Claude and François-Xavier Lalanne exhibited their works during a major retrospective in 1991. Its display today at the Bristol Paris offers a unique encounter between this major figure of design and one of the most refined settings on the Parisian scene.

Le Bristol Paris: A Century of Excellence
Located at 112 rue du Faubourg Saint-Honoré, Le Bristol Paris, an iconic palace hotel, celebrated its centenary in 2025. Blending tradition and modernity, it offers exceptional service and Michelin-starred gastronomy. Its refined suites and its 1,200 m² garden create a haven of serenity, while the suspended pool offers a view of the Sacré-Cœur.

Art at Le Bristol Paris
For 100 years, Le Bristol Paris has been a true showcase for art. Its collection, enriched over the decades, includes works by masters as well as bold contemporary creations. The lobby, decorated with antique busts and Gobelins tapestries, invites guests to discover and explore. In the suites, art comes to life: the Imperial Suite, the Parisian residence of contemporary artist George Condo and a true collector's suite; the Azur Suite, which highlights the work of ceramist Agnès Sandahl; and the Honeymoon Suite, distinguished by the spectacular bas-relief created by Dimitri Rybalchenko. Every detail, from artworks to decorative arts such as the bamboo and sculpted bronze console by Osanna Visconti in the Eden Suite, contributes to a fascinating dialogue between past and present, celebrating beauty at every moment.
