With an 83% sell-through rate, the February 27–28 auction kicked off Moda Miami in Coral Gables and also marked the culmination of the Indianapolis Motor Speedway Museum Collection. The 1966 Ford GT40 Mk II ($13.2M USD), 1908 Mercedes 150 HP Rennwagen ($8.25M USD), and 1957 Chevrolet Corvette SS XP-64 ($7.7M USD) led the sale.

The auction achieved $74,491,720 in sales with an 83% sell-through rate overall. The last of the Indianapolis Motor Speedway Museum cars were offered on Thursday night, with all lots selling for a total of $34.4 million that evening alone. The 1966 Ford GT40 Mk II and 1996 Ferrari F50 both set new world records at auction.

Held at the historic Biltmore Hotel in Coral Gables, Florida, on February 27-28, 2025, the auction featured over 80 cars, including rare models from the Indianapolis Motor Speedway Museum Collection. The Indianapolis Motor Speedway Museum vehicles were showcased at premier auctions, including the Mercedes-Benz Museum in Stuttgart, and during Rétromobile Week in Paris. Proceeds from the sales benefited the Indianapolis Motor Speedway Museum, supporting the Museum’s efforts to enhance and preserve its collection of Indianapolis 500 and Indianapolis Motor Speedway artifacts.

Highlights: The remaining cars from the collection were sold at the RM Sotheby’s auction Thursday night in Miami during Moda Miami. Highlights from the event are listed below: The 1966 Ford GT40 Mk II, a highly original example campaigned by Holman-Moody at Sebring and Le Mans in 1966 , sold for $13,205,000 , exceeding its estimate by $2,205,000 . The 1957 Chevrolet Corvette SS Project XP-64, GM’s first purpose-built race car and a personal project of Zora Arkus-Duntov , sold for $7,705,000 .

The 1908 Mercedes 17.3-Liter 150 HP ‘ Brookland’ Semmering Rennwagen, one of three surviving examples with fully documented race history, sold for $8,255,000 . The jet-powered 1965 Spirit of America Sonic I, which set a 600.601 mph land speed record at Bonneville, sold for $1,325,000 , exceeding its estimate by $325,000 . 1996 Ferrari F50: The 154th of only 349 examples built, this 1996 Ferrari F50 is a low-mileage, showroom-quality supercar celebrating Ferrari’s 50th anniversary.

This car sold for $5,532,500, a new world record. 1991 Ferrari F40: Built for Ferrari’s 40th anniversary, the twin-turbo icon was the first production car to surpass 200 mph. Sold for $3,580,000.
