RM Sotheby’s recorded more than $1 billion in total sales in 2025, its highest annual figure to date, across 44 live, online, and Sealed auctions together with Private Sales. The house offered 1,024 automotive lots worldwide and posted a 92 percent sell-through rate across its live auctions.
Bidders came from 82 countries and buyers from 54 countries, with 46 percent of bidders and 47 percent of buyers taking part for the first time. The year produced 75 auction records across marques and models, and 135 cars sold for more than $1 million.
The top result of the year was the 1954 Mercedes-Benz W 196 R Stromlinienwagen at $53,112,190 in Stuttgart, followed by the 1964 Ferrari 250 LM by Scaglietti at $36,073,245 in Paris and the 2025 Ferrari Daytona SP3 ‘ Tailor Made’ at $26,000,000 in Monterey, the most valuable new car ever sold at auction. Other leading sales included a 1994 Mc Laren F1 at $25,317,500 in Abu Dhabi, the Gordon Murray Special Vehicles S1 LM at $20,630,000, and a 2001 Ferrari F2001 at $18,116,206 in Monaco.
The Collection of the Indianapolis Motor Speedway Museum led the year’s single-collection results at $123,603,435, sold across auctions in Stuttgart, Paris, and Miami and including the Mercedes-Benz W 196 R Streamliner, the Ferrari 250 LM, a Ford GT40 Mk II, and the Corvette SS Project XP-64. The Tailored for Speed Collection followed at $86,651,919, achieving 100 percent sell-through and CHF 70 million in gross sales as all 42 supercars and track cars sold at Zürich’s Dolder Grand Hotel, setting a record value for a single-owner collection sold in one sale. The Triple Crown, a trio of Mc Laren competition cars spanning Formula 1, Le Mans, and the Indianapolis 500, realised $19,927,500.
Monterey delivered more than $165 million in total sales at an 87 percent sell-through rate, with Ferrari taking the top three results and 14 world records set overall. At the 2025 Pebble Beach Concours d’ Elegance, RM Auto Restoration secured its ninth Best of Show with the 1924 Hispano-Suiza H6C ‘ Tulipwood’ Torpedo, following a multi-year restoration of more than 12,000 hours. During Formula 1 week in Las Vegas, the first Gordon Murray Special Vehicles S1 LM commission sold for $20.63 million.
Moda Miami 2025 drew more than 10,000 attendees from 27 countries, anchored by a $74.49 million sale that closed out the Indianapolis Motor Speedway Museum Collection. Abu Dhabi 2025 became the most successful collector car auction held in the Middle East at $85.1 million, with bidders from 45 countries and led by the $25.3 million 1994 Mc Laren F1, alongside strong results for a Pagani Zonda Riviera and a Gordon Murray Automotive T.50.
